We need multigenerational connections! The separation in our culture causes us to miss the insights, history, and perspectives of each generation. When contact with multiple generations decreases or is non-existent, we become less in touch with one another’s physical, emotional, social, and spiritual needs. And in turn we are diminished by the separation.

Multigenerational ministry happens in our congregations in a variety of areas and ways:

  • In worship, there are many expressions, including a “time for all ages” for 10-15 minutes on Sunday, and about once a month worship services for all ages.
  • Community events, such as the church picnic and social hour on Sunday mornings, offer opportunities for all ages to come together.
  • Social justice activities and service projects are another way that connections are formed across the generations.
