Our June theme and focus is “ Freedom ”
This month’s bedtime story is “Julian is a Mermaid”
While riding the subway home from the pool with his abuela one day, Julian notices three women spectacularly dressed up. Their hair billows in brilliant hues, their dresses end in fishtails, and their joy fills the train car. When Julian gets home, daydreaming of the magic he’s seen, all he can think about is dressing up just like the ladies in his own fabulous mermaid costume: a butter-yellow curtain for his tail, the fronds of a potted fern for his headdress. But what will Abuela think about the mess he makes — and even more importantly, what will she think about how Julian sees himself? Mesmerizing and full of heart, Jessica Love’s author-illustrator debut is a jubilant picture of self-love and a radiant celebration of individuality.

June 14th Justice Events
We have two opportunities to witness for our shared values coming up on Saturday, June 14th
1) Berks Co. NAACP Juneteenth Celebration – Penn Ave between 6th & 9th St.
We’re looking for people to march and carry our “Black Lives Matter” banner in the parade that begins at 11am. Then from noon-3pm, we need volunteers to sit at our table to hand out literature about the church
2) No Kings Protest – begins at 12pm, 5th St. Highway & George St, in Muhlenburg
Wear your yellow “Side of Love” shirts, carry protest signs, and stand up for democracy and the rule of law.
Please see the sign-up lists in the Gerber Room, or use the link below to sign up for either or both events. If you’re willing to help out at Juneteenth, we’d especially like you to sign up so we know how many people we can count on for tabling.

UU JusticePA recently applied for, and received, a grant from The William Penn Foundation. This grant will allow UU JusticePA to hire an intern to help in their efforts to visit many congregations and engage the youth in our democratic processes.
