Once again this year, First UU is a sponsor of the Reading-Berks CROP Walk, an anti-hunger fund-raiser that benefits Helping Harvest, the supplier of food for FUUBC’s monthly food pantry, and we’ve already raised more than $300 toward a $5000 goal! Church World Service, the international sponsor of CROP Walks, keeps 25% of the funds raised local with Helping Harvest!

Team captain Jim Beidler is recruiting walkers for the 1 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 12, walk at Grings Mill. It’s usually a beautiful day filled with autumn colors for the walk along the Tulpehocken Creek. Here’s how you can support the team:

·       Sign up to walk on Oct. 12!

·       Be a “spirit walker” and register to be a part of the walk symbolically if you are prevented from putting in the actual steps!

·       Donate to the team or one of our individual walkers!

To participate in any of these ways, go to this URL to register or donate:

As a bonus, if you sign up for the team (as a walker on Oct. 12 or as a spirit walker, you’ll get a FUUBC team T-shirt!
