Beloved Community and Creative Rage – Anger is a Main Ingredient for Justice. Rev. Sage Olnick. Feminist Sharon Welch wrote,  “We need to learn that failure to develop the strength to remain angry, in order to continually love and therefore to resist, is to die.” This Sunday we will explore anger and creative rage as sources of wisdom to do the hard work of justice.  

Using Our Imagination to Make Social Change. Rev. Sage Olnick.
Paul Rogat Loeb wrote, “Those who make us believe that anything’s possible and fire our imagination over the long haul, are often the ones who have survived the bleakest of circumstances.” This Sunday we will explore how such a life can bring about seemingly impossible social change and the wise ones who imagined it into reality

Using Our Imagination in the Service of Connection. Rev. Sage Olnick. In her famous poem, Wild Geese, Mary Oliver proclaims, “Whoever you are, no matter how lonely, the world offers itself to your imagination…”. This Sunday we will consider how to Use Our Imagination in the Service of Connection. 

Remembering the Future. In Rev Theresa I Soto’s poem. “Remembering the Future,” they write “Can we develop the skill of remembering the future? Can we commit to build the community that will extend into a time that we only know by memory because it will outlast us? Memorize the compass points of the day yet to come: the truth, the love, the fire, the endless yes of the horizon. Shake the scales from your imagination: Reach. Stretch. Rise. There is no more time for pretending that everything can be all right without your care, without your attention…”

Using Our Imagination to Free Ourselves. Rev. Sage Olnick. The spiritual theme for the month of January is Imagination. In The Re-enchantment of Everyday Life, Thomas Moore said, “We tend to consider imagination too lightly, forgetting that the life we make, for ourselves individually and for the world as a whole, is shaped and limited only by the perimeters of our imagination.” This Sunday we will explore the notion of Using Our Imagination to Free Ourselves.

The Years of Repair. Jane Palmer. For too long, our world has been crowded with terrible things and our energies focused on survival. Now we stand at the beginning of what could be a vast reimagining of what’s possible, but it’s not easy to think big with a scarcity mindset. Let’s stretch ourselves to create a shared vision of the world we want — one of healing and abundance, equity and grace — not just what we don’t want.
